Best Plants For Home Office
Best Plants for Home Office | There are two sides to every story. In this case, each leaf has two sides. When you see the leaves of this calathea medallion from above, you immediately get the impression that it is bold and confident. The intricate patterns look carved, as if nature used a paint-by-numbers kit. The underside of the leaf is colored dark purple and when light passes through it, the texture and color of both sides appear simultaneously. Give these houseplants a little extra moisture and watch them closely for best results. Learn how to care for your Calathea Medallion!
- Light: These houseplants can do well in low light, but if you want them to grow faster and produce bigger leaves, give them at least five hours of moderate to bright indirect light each day. Windows facing north or east can be placed closer to let in more sunlight. You can also place windows facing south or west to avoid direct sunlight. Increased light helps maintain vivid colors and patterns on the leaves. Direct sunlight can be harmful and cause it to fade.
- Water: Praying plants need a lot of water. Water these indoor plants thoroughly when the topsoil is dry. Geopertia species grow best as houseplants in containers with well-drained soil. Calathea medallions love to drink, but like to dry out a bit between waterings. Calathea watering depends on the type of water you use. Tap water can contain minerals and compounds that can damage the leaves. Brown edges along the leaves may indicate that the water is salty or contains chlorine, chloramine, bromide, or fluoride. If you don't think tap water is suitable for your calathea medallion, it's best to water your plant using filtered or distilled water or water collected from a dehumidifier.

Soil: Well-drained potting soil rich in nutrients and organic matter is a suitable substrate for the growth of all calathea plants. Most coco or peat-based potting mixes are fine, but make sure they don't contain water-retaining crystals. Water-retaining crystals can keep the soil moist and cause root rot.
